The Blue Ridge Parkway: Boone south to Asheville

Moses Cone Park - crafts available at the visitor's center. Trails for walking or horseback riding. Pond for fishing also.
Linn Cove Viaduct -- engineering marvel. Trails (easy) under and around the viaduct.
Linville Falls - must see. Easy hike to low falls, slightly more difficult to overlook of Linville Falls.
Little Switzerland, second of 26 tunnels on the Parkway. All but one are in NC, between here and the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains NP.
Crabtree Falls - worthwhile hike, somewhat steep & strenuous - fortunately it's not too far! Nice picnic area in Crabtree Meadows.
Mt Mitchell -- must see. The highest point east of the Mississippi river. Luckily, you can drive to the top.

Parkway elevation here is 4821, Mt Mitchell peak is 6,684 feet above sea level.

Glassmine Falls overlook -- long waterfall visible across the valley, best during rainy season.
Craggy Gardens Rec. Area. Hiking and picnic.
